LT-LiDER: Language and Translation: Literacy in Digital Environments and Resources

The LT-LiDER project aims to update translation teaching by introducing related technical topics using a critical approach. Materials to be produced by the project in book and video formats will introduce data literacy, elements of natural language processing, speech technologies, and technology ethics in theory, with practical, scenario-based applications. By disseminating these materials, we aim to offer translation trainers an easy-to-implement way to update and future-proof their programmes.

The activities planned include interviews to align materials with the needs of stakeholders, followed by a project meeting to coordinate plans. Thereafter, project members will draw up scenarios and write chapters for videos and an edited book. Concurrently, the MutNMT platform will be updated for practical application of scenarios and a questionnaire for digital literacy self-assessment will be created. Finally, there will be a number of dissemination activities across Europe. The project will produce outputs on predefined themes, calibrated to the needs of translation stakeholders following a series of interviews. These outputs include an edited open-access book and accompanying videos, introducing topics in theory in the first section and including practical applications in a scenario-based second section. We hope that the outcome of these outputs and their dissemination will be updates to translation programmes and enhanced employability of graduates.
